A 20th Century Disease: In the 1500’s, the disease was Scurvy –  caused by Vitamin C deficiency.  Beriberi is caused by  Vitamin B1 (thiamin) deficiency. Rickets (weak bones) is caused by Vitamin D deficiency. Nutrition is important! Take the word “nutrition” by sections – “nut” – - hmmmm seems I’ve been called that a few times.

Amazon ImageSo, lettuce discuss this 20th century disease. This new disease is causing our hormones to be out of balance. If you were to ask any farmer how he gets his chickens and cattle to market at a higher profit, he would be sure to tell you that he feeds his livestock with feed that contains estrogen.

When humans eat the meat with the unbalanced hormones, then the human’s hormones become out of balance. The unbalance of hormones causes PMS and hot flashes to name a few. Pregnancy is a time when a woman’s  hormones are in and out of balance. Balance is the key to a healthy life. But, our contaminated food supply and environment is against our getting our bodies in balance that our grandparents enjoyed.

Women make their own estrogen in their ovaries and in their body fat. The result of the double dosage of estrogen? (from our bodies and from our food)? Fibrocystic breasts, ovarian cysts, hot flashes, sinus problems, weight gain, migraines, muscle aches and the list continues. According to Dr. John R. Lee, author of  “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause”  “Estrogen dominance (too much estrogen) happens to be the major metabolic illness of the latter half of the 20th century.”

Don’t think men are immune from estrogen dominance problems just because they have the hormone testosterone. Men are able to hold off problems longer, because of testosterone; but are plagued later in life, too. The testosterone balances the estrogen.  After age 40, prostate problems may occur because men have estrogen dominance (too much estrogen). Men’s testosterone levels begin to decrease after age 40 or 45. This natural decrease of testosterone as a man ages causes the estrogen to become a problem because their bodies can no longer balance the excessive amount of estrogen he is eating. Soon the same imbalance that happens to a woman, is now happening to a man.

Some men will start to develop breasts. The extra fat gain is caused by the increase in estrogen. Estrogen is responsible for giving a woman’s body its curves. Estrogen also gives a man curves he doesn’t want to see.

Why doesn’t your doctor know this information? How can hormone diet be the answer? Did he sleep through this class in medical school?  No, doctors are taught  that estrogen is the hormone of choice. Doctors are not told the whole truth about hormonal balance and replacement. The pharmaceutical companies fuel this misinformation because they don’t want to lose their best-selling drug to the medical community. Their best selling drug is called estrogen.

So, what’s the cure to this 20th century illness?  According to Dr. Lee, we need balance.  Diet, exercise and the balancing hormone to estrogen – progesterone. Not a pill, but a crème with progesterone added so it can be absorbed through the skin.

It is applied morning and evening. It takes one-to-three months for symptoms to improve, but they will improve. It has helped rid my life of migraine headaches. It can help you with night sweats, too.
